Story:
The national flag is rectangular and the ratio of length to width is 2:1. From left to right, the flag is composed of three equal vertical rectangles of green, white and orange. Green represents the Catholic population in Ireland, orange represents Protestantism, white represents hope, and hope for a permanent truce and solidarity between Catholics and Protestants.
